Commander Rick Wellesley who attended the November Livery dinner has now moved to another posting and been replaced as Commanding Officer of HMS Argyll by Commander John Kingwell. Our gift of £1000 towards their welfare fund has enabled them to produce a CD, recording their exploits in West Africa which has been distributed to all crew members as well as to our Clerk.
The new Commander has written to the Company expressing a keen interest in maintaining the relationship with the Paviors and in particular the opportunity to continue our Pavior of the Year award.
Unfortunately, there are no plans for the ship to visit the Port of London but in addition to preparing for another six months overseas, HMS Argyll will be in home waters for long enough to visit Swansea, Plymouth and Argyll and Bute. Preparations are in hand for some Paviors to visit the ship later in 2001
