This will be the last article I write as Master. It could be used as a review of the past year but I did that in my address to Common Hall and, for the benefit of those unable to attend, an abridged version is included with this edition of the Pavior as a separate paper. In that address I stated the facts and some aspirations for the future of the Company as a possible basis on which to develop. Whilst being Master I have reviewed our immediate and distant history. nual change of master and with that the frequent change in direction has meant that previous endeavours are quickly forgotten. Sad for those who made the effort but of more importance, wasteful for the company and a disincentive to those who are to follow. For these reasons I set as the objective for the year just past the co-ordination and, as far as possible, the unification of objectives, based on the expressed will of the whole company, in the belief that collectively we can achieve much.

Mistress Pavior's Luncheon Tuesday, 22 February The Members' Private Dining Room at the Guildhall Club was the venue for this year's Ladies' Luncheon - an elegant backdrop for our "ladies who lunch", and one that provided a warm welcome on a cold, snowy day. A glass of champagne greeted them on their arrival, and there was time for a chat with old and new friends before sitting down to a delicious meal. Our Beadle, Alex Neale, was there to ensure that everything ran smoothly, a role he can always be relied upon to fulfil - but perhaps particularly so at the Guildhall, where he was a chef before he retired. The occasion enabled the Mistress Pavior to say thank you to all those attending for the excellent support they had given during the year. |
