Paviors Golf Society

Swinley, for any golfer is a treat.  The course is reputed to be one of the finest examples of the pleasures of heath land golf to be found.  Much has been written about the serenity and ambience found at Swinley Forest.  It is indeed deserved and provides the golfer with an "unmatched solitude from which he can enjoy a game".

Paviors and guests certainly did enjoy a game, and the sumptuous surrounds of the clubhouse plus the obligatory "between the rounds" lunch.

A substantial lunch naturally leads to a somewhat "heavier" second round, but no less fun.  Not professional golf but certainly very enjoyable and, at times, inspiring (even if was just a walk in good company!)

It has been said that  "the real test of a course: is it going to live?" Swinley Forest emphatically will continue to do so for generations of golfers to come.

No doubt, the Paviors Golf Society will also continue to enjoy future days at Swinley for many years to come.

Prizes were as follows:
Paviors;    Guests;
    First -     Frank Loughlin  First -     Robert Boast
    Second - Daniel Rowe  Second - Kevin Smith
    Third -     James Dickson  Third -    M Budd

Bye Bye Birdie!

Supper at the Barbican

at 6.00 pm!

The Luncheon Club's Theatre Evening this year was to the production of "Bye Bye Birdie" at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on 30th June.  A showery evening but the mists were soon dispelled by the champagne reception and light supper (at 5.45 pm!).

13 intrepid souls thoroughly enjoyed the evening for what was the first major revival in the UK of a 1960 musical parodying the rock 'n' roll age and its superstar Elvis Presley.  It was a marvellous, melodious production with catchy lyrics, and one wonders why it has not been seen more frequently.  Another brilliant evening enjoyed by all.
