Their salary has been provided by Trusts and Foundations over the past three years and the Trustees are always on the lookout for further educational funding.

1 shall be more than happy to arrange further visits to the Museum by the Livery Company.  After all it can be approached by road - it is midway between Arundel and Storrington in West Sussex - by river, on the River Arun and by rail - Amberley Station is on the site of the Museum and is served by frequent rail services from London Victoria and the South Coast.  What could be more simple?!

Paviors family Day, Amberley Working Museum

All Paviors, and their families are invited to enjoy a day's visit to Amberley Working Museum on Sunday 11th September 2005.  During this day there will also be a special event, 90 years of Southdown Buses in Worthing, with a chance to see and ride on a wide range of Southdown buses and coaches.

The Museum is situated on the B2139 mid-way between Arundel and Storrington, adjacent to Amberley railway station. Free car parking is provided there.  Amberley Station is served by trains from London Victoria and the South Coast.  The Museum opens at 10.00 a.m. and by kind permission of the Museum there will be no charge for admission for Paviors and their families.  It is suggested that Paviors bring a picnic, although the new Restaurant/Café recently opened can provide full meals, drinks and snacks if you prefer.

You will have the whole day, with a break for a family picnic or a hot meal or a snack in the new Restaurant/Café.  On your way out, don't forget to call in at the Museum's gift shop, which offers a wonderful variety of inexpensive

gifts, mementos and local produce.

As a result of the admission charge being waived, the Museum has requested a list of those intending to visit on that day. Could Paviors wishing to attend, please advise Roger Barnard tel: 07973-167667 or email: barnard.roger@btinternet.com  with names.  A form to complete will be sent to you in due course by the Clerk for you to complete.  We look forward very much to seeing you there.
Please do come and support the Company, the Paviors' Building, Amberley Working Museum and have a great day out for yourself and your family.

Swimathon 2005

Vintage Southdown Bus at Amberley

Once again a group of five swimmers met at the RAC Club at Epsom to take part in the annual Swimathon to raise money for the Lord Mayor's Charity.  This year it was for SSAFA Forces Help and the Fishermen's Mission.  The five were Jan Steward, Sue Illman, Elaine Cordingley, Keith Lambert and Tom Barton.  For the first time the chaps were outnumbered by the girls.  We managed to swim our allotted 5kms in reasonable time allowing us time to have a drink with the Master, the Mistress Pavior and a number of other supporters.

There were about twenty Liveries taking part and we all had a very enjoyable time.  As well as enjoying ourselves we also helped to raise money for those less well off than ourselves.  This year we raised £1,500.  This was a great effort particularly as it was only six months since the last Swimathon due to the date being changed.  Many thanks to all who took part and also to all those who sponsored us.
