Mansion House--Another Full House

The Annual Banquet at the Mansion House is one of the highlights of the Company's year and 11th October 2005 proved to be no exception.  For the second time in 2 years the Egyptian Room at the Mansion House was full to capacity with around 345 Liverymen, Freemen and Guests attending what was a truly splendid occasion.

Everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable experience from the moment of arrival, through the reception to the magnificent dinner in the Egyptian Room, superbly served, and all to the excellent musical programme by The Militaire Orchestra, under Director W E Appleton.  What a lovely sound emanates from the Egyptian Room acoustics.

The Master John Carpenter proposed the Toasts, which were responded to by The Lord Mayor Locum Tenens Alderman Sir David Howard Bt who entertained us with a reprise of his time in office and thanked the Company for their continued support.  He was obviously impressed with the Company's level of support, stand

ing in the City, spirit on display and his previous time with the Paviors.
Our Guests were introduced and toasted by the Upper Warden, David Laing.  Sir Stuart Hampson responded ably on behalf of the Guests regaling us with retail experiences.

The Master presented the Paviors Medal for Excellence to Charles Lawrence and then the Paviors Award for design and construction of paving at Chepstow High Street was made to the Chairman of Monmouthshire County Council, Cllr Val Smith.
The Junior Liveryman, Pat Churchard, brought events to their end with the toast to the Paviors.  There was a marked increase in the numbers wearing full white tie dress.  A grand evening out!
