The London Construction Academy’s February 2018 Course

The February 2018 course undertaken by the London Construction Academy was attended by 17 candidates.

This was the first time that a three-week course had been run. The change from the two weeks of past courses was prompted by external funding criteria linked to the inclusion of additional new modules such as Banksman and Traffic Marshall.

The course proved to be a challenge for various reasons, with three candidates passing the full London Bronze Pass and seven passing their Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card test. The conversion into employment is still ongoing with 23 job opportunities on offer.

One of the students who did not achieve the London Bronze Pass has secured full-time warehouse work. This student was recommended to the Academy’s course by a friend, but lived outside of the M25. He was so keen to attend that he arranged to live with a relative in London during the course.

Whilst the statistics are not as good as previously attained, dialogue with participants indicated that the course is hitting the right target group of those who truly do need help.

The next course runs from 30 April to 18 May 2018.

The London Construction Academy is supported by the Worshipful Company of Paviors. Please contact the Academy for more details.
