Over two hundred Paviors, guests and Imperial College students joined us to hear Matt Palmer, Executive Director of the Lower Thames Crossing give a fascinating insight into the challenges of delivering major programmes in the UK. Matt’s passion shone through and drew heavily on his real-world experience with Heathrow’s terminals two and five, Heathrow’s expansion plans, and the Lower Thames Crossing. In his speech and the highly engaging Q&A, passion, personal commitment, the power of human engagement, and a willingness to commit to things for the long haul were the attributes of successful major project teams.
In addition to Matt’s excellent lecture, attendees were inspired by the interactions with Imperial’s students—including two of the Paviors Company’s Arkwright Scholars—leaving us full of hope for the future of our industry. As such, it was timely that the Company used the lecture to launch our new Journeyman membership class.
