Autumn 2023 Livery Dinner

The Lady Mayoress, Elizabeth Mainelli, was guest of honour and principal speaker. She is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Masons and an accomplished business woman, gave her first speech at a Livery event since her Installation, sharing her thoughts on City and Livery.

Merchant Taylors’ Hall is the only livery Hall with a working organ and we were extremely lucky to have Nicholas Morris, Director of Music at Queens’ College Cambridge and the Master’s Godson, playing a hand-picked selection of pieces for us.

The Company’s Almoner, Court Assistant David Marshall, was presented with a long service certificate.

Among the COmpany’s official guests were the City of London’s youngest Alderman – by 20 years – Kawsar Zaman attended, as did Christopher Causer (Master Bricklayer), Raymond Joyce(Master Engineer), Squadron Leader Joe Murphy (29 Squadron), Gearoid Lohan (President of the Institute of Asphalt Technology) and Major John Charles (Master, Worshipful Livery Company of Wales). The Master’s personal guests included Commodore Pat Tyrell RN (Master Patten Maker), Elise Rasmussen (Master Pipe Maker), Nigel Salisbury (Master Girdler), Nigel Heilpern (Master Bowyer), Malcolm Hopkins (Master Upholder), Paul Morris (immediate Past Upper Bailiff of the Worshipful Company of Weavers) and Jason Van Praagh (Chairman of the Carolean Past Masters Association).

Court Assistant Alexander Malmaeus proposed the toast to the guests and Junior Liveryman Rohit Tanna proposed the toast to the Worshipful Company of Paviors.
