The Worshipful Company of Paviors is proud to be affiliated with representatives of Britain’s armed services. The Company’s affiliates are the Royal Navy’s HMS Argyll, the Army’s Third Battalion The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment (3PWRR), and 29 Squadron of the Royal Air Force. Formerly known as 29(R) Squadron, the RAF Coningsby-based Paviors’ affiliate has recently been reclassified, losing its ‘(R)’ designation as a ‘reserve’ squadron.

Each year, the Paviors make an award to an individual serviceman or woman from each affiliate to recognize personal achievement. During March, the Master of Paviors, Dyfrig James, had the privilege of presenting awards to servicemen in both 29 Squadron and 3PWRR. The images above show (on the left) the presentation on 20 March of the 29 Squadron Airman of the Year Award to Acting Sgt Andy Gillespie, and (on the right) the presentation of the Kohima Award to Cpl Neil Umpelby of 3PWRR.

Many congratulations to both recipients.
