Chepstow High Street was the winning scheme for the 2005 Paviors’ Award.
In making the award to Monmouthshire County Council, the clients for this scheme, the judges were very impressed by the approach adopted by the County Council and their designers, WS Atkins, and the quality of the completed work by the contractor, Alun Griffiths.
On 9 August, the Master, John Carpenter, accompanied by Award judge, Mike Cottell, presented a certificate to the Chairman of the County Council, Councillor Val Smith, accompanied by Councillor Chris Woodhouse, the Cabinet Member for the Environment in Chepstow. A street ‘button’ was also presented for the client to place in the paving at a suitable location. Further certificates were presented to the client, designer and contractor at the Mansion House Annual Banquet on 11 October.
