EVENTS

The Worshipful Company of Paviors undertakes a full programme of social, educational and charitable events each year. The Paviors’ year starts in March with the installation of the new Master. The installation ceremony and service of dedication have, for many years, taken place at the church of St Martin within Ludgate, with supper afterwards at Cutlers’ Hall. A number of events are then held throughout the year in which liverymen can participate.

Parliament is made up of three central elements: the House of Commons, the House of Lords and the Monarchy. The main business of Parliament takes place in the two Houses. Generally the decisions made in one House have to be approved by the other.

The House of Commons

The UK public elects 650 Members of Parliament (MPs) to represent their interests and concerns in the House of Commons. MPs consider and propose new laws, and can scrutinise government policies by asking ministers questions about current issues either in the Commons Chamber or in Committees.
The House of Lords is the second chamber of UK Parliament. It plays a crucial role in examining bills,
questioning government action and investigating public policy.
