Seventeen members of the Paviors’ Luncheon Club had a very enjoyable evening at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama’s Gala Performance of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ on 10 July.
The evening started with an early dinner in the Barbican Arts Centre. There, guests were told that they were about to see the penultimate performance of the School’s final year students, who would all be leaving in the next few days. The Gala is run as part of the School’s drive to provide bursaries for the students. Staff work very hard to ensure that every student who has the talent to be at the School will be funded as needed. The Paviors are very pleased to support this effort.
Everyone then moved on to the Silk Street Theatre to watch the performance. It is understood that there were scouts in the audience seeking out tomorrow’s stars. On the basis of this performance seen by the Paviors, there certainly are some stars of the future. The show was all that anyone would expect. The singing of all the well-known songs was really professional, and the acting and the stage-set superb. All in all, this was a great evening’s entertainment.
