Military Affiliates and Security
The Livery movement as a whole is a great supporter of our military affiliates. The last couple of weeks have seen your master attend a number of security events. First was the Lord Mayor’s security briefing well attended by representatives from the reservists and cadets. General Sir Jim Hockenhull spoke of the wholesale change in military engagement with the game changing cyber and space piece. The military are engaging with a wider range of technically savvy reservists and it was comforting to hear that GB ink is in safe and purposeful hands. I then had to honour to attend the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey’s annual prize giving for exceptional reserve and cadet members. This was in the Indian room at the White House at Sandhurst. As always, it was a pleasure to talk to those who give so much time in these roles and to see their absolute dedication.
This week saw Micheal and I attend a prize giving at RAF Coningsby. With a number of intense global threats in Ukraine and the Israeli/Palestinian conflicts 29 Squadron have been kept very busy this year. As Micheal served his Queen and country for 11 years he was like a small boy in a sweet shop. As the owner of a helicopter and jet charter service, he was able to get into tech talk and really enjoyed the flight simulator. The Master ventured into the cockpit and, to her delight, found it a fantastic experience even if the Squadron leader turned her upside down in her Tornado.
The Paviors remain hugely proud of all our affiliates always mindful that they put themselves in harms way so that we can sleep secure in our beds at night.
