As a ancient City livery company, the Paviors are proud to be involved with and to raise money for
the charitable activities of the Lord Mayor, the Corporation and other City of London-related organizations.
These include the following.
The Lord Mayor’s Appeal for the City of London, which has raised millions of pounds for a wide variety of charities and good causes by successive Lord Mayors. The Appeal is different each year and chosen by the incumbent Lord Mayor. At the Annual Paviors’ Banquet, held at Mansion House, the Master normally presents a donation to the Lord Mayor towards this Appeal.
The Mansion House Scholarship scheme is available to overseas students taking masters-level degree courses at British universities or for training and work-experience in the UK’s financial services sector.
The Sherriff’s and Recorder’s Fund was founded in 1808 and is dedicated to helping ex-prisoners start a new life in the first weeks after release when they are most at risk of re-offending. Small grants are made to individuals and their families on the recommendations of the Probation Service and Social Welfare.
The Company also provides regular donations to St Paul’s Cathedral for the United Guilds Service and to St Martin-within-Ludgate Church, which is the venue for the annual service and ceremony for the installation of new Masters of the Paviors Company.
