Stewart Laing

Stewart Laing was presented with the Medal at the Autumn Livery Dinner in 2013 by Master Nigel Kempner.

The award was made to celebrate Stewart’s achievement on 12 September 2013, when he set out from Dover to swim the English Channel, aiming for a landfall outside Calais. Battling against tides and crossing marine traffic, he reached the coast of France after 18 hours in the water, having swum many miles further than the shortest route. Through these efforts, he raised £70,000 for his chosen charity Greenhouse, enabling them to continue to provide sporting opportunities for disadvantaged young people.
