Sent to the Tower
I was asked to attend Bow Street police station last night to answer charges of mis-selling and mis-respresentation along with 10 other Livery Masters. Our ‘charges’ were read by the two Sheriffs who sent us to the Tower pending payment of bail. I’m glad to say that bail was forthcoming and we were treated to dinner in the Tower before witnessing the Ceremony of the Keys before being sent home. Bail monies went to the British Red Cross and the evening raised £31k. In the cells with me at Bow Street are Tony Ginman, Master Lightmonger and David Reynolds, Master Chartered Surveyor. This was the cell that held the Krays before they were sent to the Tower in 1952 for failing to report for National Service.
