The Paviors’ Wine Circle held their second ‘virtual’ wine tasting on 23 July when Mark Shannon, winemaker and one of the owners of A Mano Wines, joined 21 Paviors and their partners by Zoom, live from Puglia in Italy, to introduce his wines. The event was organized by Wine Circle Chairman, Christopher Laing and wine merchant, Justin Warples. The wines to be tasted had been shipped out to participants in advance of the event.
Three wines were collectively tasted: A Mano Bianco, derived from a blend of Fiano Minutolo and Greco grapes; A Mano Primitivo, which is his flagship deep-red wine made from the local Primitivo grapes; and, finally, another red wine A Mono Susumaniello from ancient Salento grapes.
Mark entertained the group with his explanation of how his wines were made and his efforts to improve the quality of the traditional wines of the area over the past 23 years. The event proved to be a fascinating and most enjoyable evening.
